I finished this earlier in the week, guess i'll drop some final thoughts on it, it feels hard to judge as it's not an actual NSMB title made by Nintendo themselves so judging it by those standards would be a bit unfair so to speak. Overall it feels like a NSMBWii expansion, so if you enjoy NSMB and want more this is it. Lives are extremely easy to get as we hit 99 around World 4. No ghost houses yet but I think we saw one in world 6 but we haven't gotten to it yet. One thing that is really bad though is that in most worlds the boss in the first castle and the second castle are exactly the same, no difference in difficulty or attacks even. The castle and airship levels usually have a unique/different design to them from what you would except in a regular NSMB game which is neat but there is always 2 castles and 1 airship in a world. The bosses in the castles are new but on the airships they are the koopa kids but all of the bosses are quite easy, except for the fire and ice boss which was sort of difficult. There also isn't a lot of variation in the level designs, there are a few on rails levels or unique levels but its on par with what NSMBWii had in level variation. The star coins in a level almost always are placed with one before the midpoint flag, then the 2nd immediately after the flag, then the 3rd near the end of the level.

Towards the end of the world the levels and secrets get a little harder to find with only one or two being actually difficult. The first few levels in a world are very easy and all secrets are in plain sight.

The levels and world seem to follow the same design that gets very repetitive. Most things we found by just playing through normally, although a few star coins and secret exits took use a while to figure out and those usually had to do with foreground objects blocking the path to the star coin or exit. The secret exits and star coins are mostly very easy to obtain. The new hammerbro powerup is neat as the hammers go through everything but they travel at an arc that is hard to use. Minimushrooms are in the game but seem to be pointless, so far there has only been one instance where we got minimushroom as a powerup in a level and I don't remember if it was needed or not for a small pipe but otherwise we have never used it. I haven't needed to bring a power with me into a level to get a star coin. However, If you need a certain power to get a coin it will be in the level placed right before you need it making it too easy. The shop items seem to be better the further along you are and are also relevant to whatever world you are in.

The shops are a neat idea but we haven't bought anything as every level is very plentiful with the powerups so we never need to use any beforehand (most levels give you powerups right at the very beginning). The 2 new mingames are lame though, the first being a very easy collect all the tiny stars before time runs out thing and the other being a very hard simon says type game. The worlds are varied and nice so far (except for world 4 which I hate) and lots of secret paths that usually just loop around and connect but there are secret worlds (one for every regular world it seems) and switch houses. The music starts out being cool as it is remixes of old Mario themes like from Super Mario World or Yoshi's Island, but from what I remember there is no new music and there aren't a lot of remixed themes so the music gets a little repetitive. The are some new things that are fanmade but it mostly small stuff like new colors for enemies/objects, a couple new enemies like shyguys, new minigames, and new boss fights. I have been playing it with a friend so that is making the game way easier as it seems the game's challenges have mostly been designed with a single player in mind. It is pretty fun, about the same enjoyment level from any of the other NSMB games.
